Peder Löfving and Julia Kromel, members of the European Union Monitoring Mission, paid a working visit to the Zugdidi Bureau of the LEPL Legal Aid Service (LAS) on June 25, 2024. The topics covered during the discussion included the services provided by the Legal Aid Service, its operations, the legal problems facing the local population, those who have been internally displaced, and those who are lawfully residing in the occupied territories of Abkhazia.
Future plans and current initiatives pertaining to providing legal aid to citizens were also deliberated. The guests were given an introduction by the head of the Zugdidi bureau to the LAS ongoing services, outreach consultations, and the meetings held as part of the government program for women and domestic abuse, being conducted in the boundary regions of the occupied territories. Further collaboration was agreed upon by the parties.
