On March 14, the Director of the Legal Aid service, David Simonia, participated in the meeting of the Central Multidisciplinary Council for Minors, organized by the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia, and held with the support of the European Union’s “Promoting the Reform of the Justice System in Georgia" project.
The event was opened by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia, Natia Merebashvili. Among the distinguished attendees were Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Buba Lomuashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Tamar Makharashvili, Manager of European Union Representation Programs Antonio Dal Borgo, Senior Expert of the European Union Project Renate Winter, representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund, Prosecutor General 's Office, the court and various agencies.
David Simonia delivered the information about the current activities of the Legal Aid Service with regard to juvenile justice, discussed the existing challenges and accomplishments.
At the end of the meeting, the senior expert of the EU project shared recommendations on the activities each agency should implement to defend children's rights.
