On May 29, in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, the Director of the Legal Aid Service, David Simonia, and the head of the Analytical Division, Giorgi Baghdavadze met with the Director of the Lithuanian Legal Aid Service, Zivilė Poželienė, and the head of the International Relations Department, Sandra Smulaite.
At the discussion the participants talked over the reforms that have been put into place in Lithuania and Georgia to raise the standard of legal assistance.
Colleagues from Lithuania were particularly interested in the legal system's digitization and the implementation of artificial intelligence, that was introduced to them by the LAS Director, David Simonia.
It was also crucial to familiarize with the electronic case distribution program, successfully operating in the Legal Aid Service.
The conversation touched on the initiatives implemented to increase the accessibility of free legal services for citizens.
It turned out to be of particular interest the remuneration of the invited public attorneys, presented by the Lithuanian colleagues.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed at the end of the meeting, which, among other things, calls for information sharing and further collaboration in the field of raising the legal awareness of the population and Service reforms.
