A meeting with the Zugdidi-based Abkhazian community was held on May 23, at the Zugdidi Music School building. Director of the Legal Aid Service, David Simonia, met with the displaced population from Abkhazia living in Zugdidi and the surrounding areas.
David Simonia informed the audience about the free legal aid system and the services of the Legal Aid Service (LAS), used by both – the internally displaced persons, or the general public.
D.Simonia clarified the ways to benefit from free legal advice and attorney services; presented the mobile application LAS GEORGIA, which assists any individual from any location to send a legal inquiry and receive a qualified explanation from attorneys without having to visit the office.
The Director introduced the public the head of the Zugdidi Legal Aid Bureau, Roman Keidia, and the consultant Nino Minjia, who is also a consultant of the Rukhi Consulting Center, serving both the IDPs and the residents of the conflict zone. They cross Georgian government-controlled territory via the Enguri Bridge to make use of the LAS services. The IDPs raised specific legal-related questions in the second half of the discussion and were given knowledgeable responses. It was planned to hold further gatherings of this kind.
