On March 22, Legal Aid Service (LAS) with the support from the European Union (EU) and the South Caucasus Field Presence of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) held a presentation of the 2022 Action Plan of the LAS on Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The meeting was attended by the care and other human rights organizations operating in Adjara region, including representatives of the non-governmental sector working on the issues of persons with disabilities, employees of the Batumi Legal Aid Bureau, and other representatives of the communities with disabilities.
OHCHR Senior Human Rights Advisor for the South Caucasus Vladimir Shkolnikov addressed the meeting participant and briefly spoke about the activities supported by the OHCHR in Georgia.
Director of the Legal Aid Service Razhden Kuprashvili, spoke about the projects implemented by the Service over the last year, encompassing the services provided to the people with disabilities.
Head of the Zestaponi Legal Aid Bureau Gela Beradze, introduced the 2022 Action Plan of the Legal Aid Service - Presentation on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the event attendees.
The representatives of persons with disabilities were actively involved in the discussion, in the course of which a number of remarkable opinions were expressed, that will be gradually reflected on the activities of the relevant agencies.
