The LAS Shida Kartli bureau continues to cooperate with pupils of higher grades who participate in the project of Leadership House under the Ministry of Justice.
On Sunday, March 1, a mock trial was held in Gori District Court, with participation of members of Leadership House. The defense and prosecution parties, as well as jurors were chosen by voting among the groups of participants. The defense party was prepared by the LAS Shida Kartli attorney, Ioseb Gabaraevi. He helped the pupils in drafting opening and closing speech and gave them advice on conducting interrogation.
The students of Gori State Teaching University, who have completed the internship in the LAS Shida Kartli bureau this year, also participated in mock trial with the status of a judge and a trial secretary.
The mock trial ended up with a verdict of guilty. With support of Leadership House, teams participating in mock trial will visit the Supreme Court of Georgia.
In the frame work of cooperation with Leadership House, the LAS Shida Kartli bureau lawyers held seminars for pupils. Besides, participants of the project visited the legal aid bureau and got introduced with the work of public attorneys.
