From January, 2015, video trainings are held for public and private sector attorneys in the LAS regional bureaus, in the framework of continuing legal education. The trainings are held using the online learning platform (OLP) of the American Bar Association (ABA).
On February 13, at the LAS Legal Aid Bureau, the video training was held on criminal law and investigation of a murder. The attorneys underwent a test before and after the training in order to establish the level of their knowledge. By attending the training, the participant attorneys gained the credits necessary for compulsory continuing legal education.
OLP is an innovative learning model, which entails the ABA video trainings, supplementary learning materials, manuals and relevant legislation. The platform ensures raise of the qualification and verification of the gained knowledge of the GBA attorneys with criminal and general specialization.
In the framework of partnership with ABA, Legal Aid Service supports use of online learning platform by public and private sector attorneys through its regional infrastructure.
The first several video-trainings were held in the LAS regional bureaus in July, 2014. This process will take larger scale this year. More than 50 video training are to be held in Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Telavi, Rustavi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Batumi till the end of the year.
