5 students of the law faculty of Akaki Tsereteli State University completed a 3-month internship in the framework of the law clinic program carried out in the LAS Kutaisi Legal Aid Bureau.
On February 3, at the final stage of the internship, students held a mock trial. It was carried out in Akaki Tsereteli State University and jurors participated in it. The interns, who were divided in defense and prosecution parties, examined the case of murder and demonstrated their skills on working on criminal cases. The trial ended up with the verdict of guilty.
In the framework of the law clinic project, the students of the above-mentioned university underwent the course of theory. They were also involved in proceedings of real criminal cases – in particular, met with the defendant and drafted legal documents.
Besides Kutaisi, the law clinic program is carried out in cooperation with Tbilisi, Gori and Batumi universities.
