On April 15-16, 2026, a training course on "Lawyer Skills in Jury Trials" was held in Tbilisi for lawyers of the Legal Aid Service (LAS).
Sulkhan Komakhidze, Head of the Legal Aid Service Bureau of Particularly Important Cases of Eastern Georgia, and Gela Siordia, Head of the Bureau of Particularly Important Cases of Western Georgia, led the training session.
It is noteworthy that the Legal Aid Service has been involved in jury trials for many years and there is a positive statistics on the resolution of these disputes, in favor of the defendants.
The training covered the issues of jury selection, introductory speech, direct examination techniques and strategies, cross-examination, witness impeachment, protest, and preparation of closing arguments.
Attorneys Gela Siordia and Sulkhan Komakhidze gave their colleagues practical exercises based on their own experiences.
The event was held with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Germany.
