The LAS Kvemo Kartli Bureau Held Meetings in the Region

On December 7, the LAS Kvemo Kartli Bureau lawyers met with the pupils, their parents and teachers of the Maradisi village school.

The statistics of the 10-year activities of the Service, success stories, acquitted cases and other services that the LAS provide for the vulnerable people were discussed at the meeting. It was underlined that the EU constantly supports the organization in carrying out its functions properly. The public lawyers informed children and adults about the detailed information on their rights and mechanisms for protection of these rights. Besides, it was important to tell the population of the village settled with the Azeri ethnic group about the global campaign on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
The attendees watched the documentary named “Raise Your Voice” which was followed by the discussion. They also received information about the free services provided by Legal Aid Service for victims of violence against women and domestic violence cases, as well as how to use the Service hotline, receive consultations and which steps should they take to solve their problems, how the Georgian legislation regulates such crimes, etc.

Besides, on November 30, the similar meeting was carried out between the consultants of the LAS Kvemo Kartli Bureau, Marneuli Consultation Center and the pupils of Shulaveri village, Marneuli municipality public school. IDP children study at this school. Their parents and teachers also attended the meeting. The participants underlined that it is very important to raise awareness of the Kvemo Kartli population, mainly of the youth, on violence and demonstrate solidarity towards victims of violence based on the gender. 

On December 1, the consultants visited Dmanisi. The public lawyers informed the local population about the issues they were interested in. The citizens asked many questions regarding human rights. The LAS employees distributed the information brochures which provides information on a hotline, Skype, webpage, and Facebook through which they can receive the free legal consultation.
