Today, two-day training on ECHR court decisions against Georgia was launched for public lawyers of LAS. The training led by expert – Levan Meskhoradze was organized by USAID PROLoG. A series of two day trainings is organized for six groups of legal aid lawyers and 5 more trainings are planned to be conducted before the end of the year.
In the course of the trainings, the public lawyers shall be acquainted with the main trends of ECtHR cases against Georgia, systemic and structural gaps in Georgian legal system; A wide spectrum of ECtHR decisions against Georgia shall be discussed, among them those covering crimes against life; torture and inhuman treatment, right to freedom and security; extradition, expulsion and deportation; right to fair trial; private and family life, minority rights and discrimination.
The trainings on ECHR case law shall improve the skills of the LAS lawyers to actively apply ECHR precedential law in practice and in this way provide their clients with high quality of legal assistance.
