A meeting of the network of legal aid providers working group was held on September 7, with the support of the Legal Aid Service and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Germany assisted to make the event possible, as part of the "Improving the Rule of Law and Access to Justice for All" initiative.
David Simonia, the Director of the Legal Aid Service, opened the working session. The meeting participants were welcomed by the representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project, and the USAID Rule of Law Program. The event was focused on the presentation of the Network Statute updated draft, and its introduction to the the legal aid providers network members.
Both current and prospective members of the network, as well as representatives from foreign organizations, attended the aforementioned meeting. The provided draft of the Network Statute was approved by the participants, and suggestions were made to make minor amendments.
The following conference, which will take place on September 26 at the UN House, was announced after the conclusion of the event. The conference major goals are to formally endorse the amended Statute and admit new members.
