On September 24-26, this year, LEPL Legal Aid Service, with the support of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the European Union for Georgia, is holding a bench- bar on the "Prohibition of Torture" topic. The goal of the bench- bar is to highlight urgent issues related to torture. In this kind of format the bench-bar is organized by the Legal Aid Service for the first time.
ench Bar is a working format meeting between different agencies and it aims at enhancing communication between agencies and establishing a common position on various problematic issues.
Various state agencies are involved in the project - the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the Special Penitentiary Service, the State Inspector's Office, the Public Defender's Office and the Court.
