23 August, 2021 Press release On August 23, Razhden Kuprashvili , Director of the Legal Aid Service, Salome Vardiashvili, Energy Ombudsman, and Davit Narmania, Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, signed a memorandum of understanding.
Under the Tripartite Memorandum, the Legal Aid Service shall provide legal advice to energy sector users, allocating meeting space for legal bureaus and consulting centers to deliver legal or other kinds of help to consumers by the Energy Ombudsman or the GNERC.
For its part, the Energy Ombudsman shall provide information periodically to the Legal Aid Service on regulations and practices in the energy sector, which will facilitate the provision of professional consultation and advice; Business trips to regional centers; Material and technical assistance for implementation of regional activities; Involvement of human resources and technical assistance according to the fields of electricity, water supply and natural gas.
And the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission shall provide, upon request, information on regulations in the energy sector and generalized practices of the Commission, involvement of human resources and assistance to resolve a specific case.
On the same day, the parties visited the office of the Kvareli Consulting Center of the Legal Aid Service, which will be one of the first of the 30 consulting centers already operating, where the activities envisaged in the memorandum will be readily implemented. Along with the event, the guests got acquainted with the working conditions on the place and met with the beneficiaries.
