On July 10 Legal Aid Service (LAS), with the support of USAID-funded Promoting Rule of Law Activity (USAID/PROLoG) organized a meeting with international donor organizations.
Razhden Kuprashvili, director of LAS presented the ongoing 13 reforms.
The meeting was attended by the USAID, Council of Europe, US Department of Justice, UN Women, UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF and Open Society-Georgia Foundation representatives.
Giorgi Chkheidze, Chief of Party of the USAID/PROLoG gave a positive evaluation to the reforms at the LAS and he welcomed the fact of approval of the lawyer appraisal system by the LAS and its board. The system will facilitate the process of rendering the quality legal aid service to socially vulnerable people. Donor organizations expressed their full readiness to support the LAS in implementing the activities aimed at provision of high quality free legal aid to the population and raising the level of legal awareness among them, which will significantly improve the human rights situation in Georgia.
