The former CEO of the Dutch Legal Aid Council Peter Van Den Biggelaar who now is a legal aid expert visited Legal Aid Service of Georgia for several days. The aim of the visit is to study caseload of the public lawyers who work at the LAS legal aid bureaus. The expert will meet with the management of the Service, heads of legal aid bureaus, lawyers and judges. As a part of his visit, Peter Van Den Biggelaar will identify specifics of work of the LAS lawyers, statistical data, geographical locations of the LAS bureaus, the territory they cover, frequency of travels by the public lawyers – all which affect the caseload.
It is worth to mention that Peter Van Den Biggelaar has worked in the Dutch legal aid system for several years. In 2009-2016 he held the position of CEO of the service. Today he is recognized as one of the best experts in the Dutch legal aid system. His visit was supported by the EU-UNDP joint project.
