On December 1, the LAS Imereti-Kutaisi Legal Aid Bureau lawyers - Tea Jangiani and Nana Lutidze held meeting at the Kharagauli Municipality conference hall. The aim of the meeting was to inform the society about the legal aid opportunities that imply assistance for victims of domestic violence and mechanisms for fighting violence against women. The Kharagauli citizens were mostly interested in certain free services provided by Legal Aid Service in this direction.
Besides, the public lawyers informed the locals about the services offered by the organization and are envisaged by the Georgian legislation. The meeting between the public lawyers and the local population was carried out on November 28, dedicated to the similar topics. The Sachkhere Consultation Center employee – Salome Giorgadze talked about the situation in the region.
On December 6, the same group met with the local population of Meore Sviri village, Zestaphoni municipality, at a newly-opened community center. It was underlined that Legal Aid Service is involved in the National Communication Strategy on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. There is an action plan which will probably change the difficult situation which exists in this field. The pupils and teachers expressed their interest towards gender equality issues. They also received detailed information on the LAS services.
