On October 9, 2024, a panel discussion on the topic "Professional development of a lawyer" was held for students of the Faculty of Law, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University,
The experts, Davit Simonia, director of the LEPL Legal Aid Service (LAS), and Giorgi Chakvetadze, head of the Tbilisi Legal Aid Bureau, spoke at the discussion panel. They discussed a variety of issues with the students, including the peculiarities of the legal profession and the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
They also covered the issue of choosing a specific field in legal career, the steps a young lawyer should take to reach their full potential, the services provided by LAS to young people aspiring to practice law, how attorneys become involved in high-profile cases, and the social pressure that public attorneys may face when they defend a serious accused person.
Young people actively participated in the discussion, considered several high-profile cases in which public attorneys are involved, openly presented their opinions.
It was decided that a moot court will be prepared soon with the participation of TSU students.
