On July 13-15, with the support from the USAID Rule of Law Program, an extended session of the Legal Aid Council was held in Borjomi. The session was attended by representatives of the Service administration and bureaus, along with the members of the council, and invited experts who are working on improving the quality assessment system of legal consultation and legal assistance provided by the Service. The meeting was opened by the Director of the Legal Aid Service, Razhden Kuprashvili, who spoke about the close cooperation between the USAID and the Service and its importance. The head of the Rule of Law Program, Mr. Giorgi Chkheidze, addressed the attendees with a welcome speech. He spoke about the organization's development path and achievements, as well as the aspects of cooperation with the Legal Aid Service. The presentation of the report on the legal proceedings management information system (CASE BANK) was made, considering the working principles of the Case Bank, and the statistical data of the cases produced during the last year. In addition, the invited expert introduced the ILF presentation on the principles of providing legal aid to the attendees. The first deputy director of the Legal Aid Service, Nino Meladze, gave a presentation to the attendees about the rules and criteria for evaluating the quality of legal consultation and legal assistance. The participants talked about the regional challenges of the Service: ensuring the availability of free legal aid services, offering personalized services to the beneficiaries, as well as providing research of different directions, necessary for setting specific plans for the further development of the Service. On the last day of the meeting, the Director of the legal assistance service, Razhden Kuprashvili, summarized the issues discussed within the framework of the meeting. He spoke about the current year plans, including the development of the Training Center and the Analytical Department, the projects that the Service plans to implement in 2022. The invited expert Alan Daly noted that the meeting was interesting. He emphasized the fact that the ten standards and the criteria by which quality services are evaluated, have been regulated in detail in the Legal Aid Service. At the end of the session, questions were asked, and a discussion was held regarding the discussed issues.
